Software Support Restrictions
The CLAS Linux Group typically does not purchase application software or software that most of users will not use.
The CLAS Linux Group does not purchase support contracts for software. The purchaser of the software is responsible for buying any necessary support contracts.
Before deciding to install any software, the CLAS Linux Group will determine whether the software may weaken the security of computing and networking at The University of Iowa. If the CLAS Linux Group team decides that the software does pose a risk, the CLAS Linux Group may decide not to install it, or may install it in a manner that is more secure but that reduces the software's functionality.
The CLAS Linux Group team will support software only if it has sole ownership of the software's files and directories. The CLAS Linux Group cannot be responsible for the state of software for which it does not have sole and complete control.
