Consulting & Research Service Description
The CLAS Linux Group of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences offers consultation services to faculty and staff regarding their Linux based teaching and research needs. Drop in to 303A MLH or email request@divms.uiowa.edu to start a consultation to see how CLAS Linux can support your teaching and research needs.
- Determining which resource is best, which could include:
- CLAS Linux team managed servers & hardware configuration.
- Cloud services.
- Locally-hosted: Argon or the Interactive Data Analytics Service (IDAS).
- External cyberinfrastructure, such as the HPC funded by the National Science Foundation or other U.S. agencies.
- Data management and sharing plans.
- Storage: Advice on the most secure short-term and archival solutions that are supported on campus.
- Scientific software: Introduction to what we currently support and how to request new software.
- Compliance: We can advise regarding policies and regulations associated with technology and data plans.
- Concierge Services: Referrals to other campus IT services that support research.
- License server hosting.
- Teaching infrastructure and requests.
- Unique, one-of-a-kind problems.
