The CLAS Linux Group of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences provides servers configured with Podman to support research or in support of courses taught by members of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. Podman is the daemonless container program of choice for the CLAS Linux team as it support running rootless containers.
Use cases
Podman is geared towards running non-native or incompatible software (different distributions Ubuntu/Debian) on CentOS systems. Podman is typically not used to run server type applications that require open ports and writing to log files (Apache web servers or databases).
